Scholastic Chess Tournament
January 15 at 10:30am

Hosted by the Orlando Chess Academy and Orlando Chess & Games Center, this scholastic tournament is intended for all chess players ages 18 and under. with the exception of complete beginners (as long as the child is comfortable with how the pieces move, we invite you to participate!). The event is NOT USCF-rated, but the "touch-move" rule will apply. Come have fun in a competitive chess environment, where everyone will receive a participation medal and the top three finishers will receive a trophy!

Time Control: G/15 d5
Duration: 4 rounds; approximately 3 hours including lunch break
Who Can Enter?: Any chess player age 18 or younger

Collegiate Chess Tournament

Hosted by the UCF Chess Club, this tournament is for collegiate chess players.

WORKSHOPS

Parents Workshop

Level 2 presented by GM Lars Bo Hansen and WIM Jen Hansen


These workshops are aimed to teach parents why to support their child's chess and how to do so. If you and your child are new to chess, attend the Level 1 Workshop; if you and your child are already familiar with chess and are involved in competition, attend the Level 2 Workshop.

Find a Coach

Offered by the UCF Chess Club, the "Find a Coach" workshop will provide attendees with affordable coaching options in Orlando.

Can You Beat a Kid in Chess?
'Can you beat the 2nd grader? Watch and marvel as a 2nd grader plays 10 games at one time - play a game against him, watch as he tackles 9 other opponents, and see if you can score a victory!

Simul with Grandmaster Lars Bo Hansen
Have a chance to play against a Grandmaster! A simul is when a chess player plays multiple games at a time. Spaces are limited to 40 seats only.
